Reunions of the 57th Bomb Wing

These flyboys ain't spry boys any more. Most of them are pushing 80 and beyond. Some are gray, stooped and hard of hearing. Look in their eyes, though, and you see it smoldering there like it did when the were in their 20's: The fire. The pride. The class. They may be old, but the men of the 57th Bomb Wing were gods of their age. They helped save the world. (Doug Clark, Spokesman-Review, Aug 1999)

Hundreds of World War II vets who served in the United States Air Force 57th Bomb Wing gather each year to commemorate the months and years they worked side by side defending our country. Check out some of the photos of their get-togethers.

He was getting old and paunchy
And his hair was falling fast,
But he attended a reunion
Telling stories of the past.

Of a war that he once fought in
And the deeds that he had done,
In his exploits with his buddies;
They were heroes, every one.
